Marshall Football: Verbal Commitment Watch, Week 15

The Marshall Thundering Blog looks back on last weeks high school football action and reviews the performance of each Marshall University verbal commitment.

1. Tyler Combs, OL, Lawrence County High School (KY)

Season over, Lawrence County finished with a 5-7 record.

2. Devon Johnson, LB/RB, Richlands High School (VA)

Richlands undefeated season ended Friday night in a 35-21 playoff loss to Cave Springs. Even in defeat Devon Johnson had an impressive game, racking up 109 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

3. Trenton Norvell, QB, Seabreeze High School (FL)

Season over, Seabreeze finished with a 7-4 record.

4. Ryan Riedel, LB, Cabell Midland High School (WV)

Season over, Cabell Midland finished with a 8-4 record.

5. Antonio Wells, DE, Magna Vista High School (VA)

Just like fellow Marshall commitment Devon Johnson, Antonio Wells perfect regular season ended with a playoff loss. Christiansburg defeated Magna Vista 46-12 Friday night, ending Wells high school career.

6. Matt Cincotta, LS/LB, Charlotte Catholic High School (NC)

Charlotte Catholic’s season came to an end Friday night with a 35-28 playoff loss to Crest. Despite losing, Matt Cincotta was perfect on all his long snap attempts during the game.

7. Cameron Dees, OL, Armwood High School (FL)

Armwood advanced in the Florida 6A playoffs Friday night, shutting out Hillsborough 23-0. Cameron Dees and the Armwood offensive line helped the Hawks to 280 rushing yards during the victory.

8. Zach Hall, OL, Port Charlotte High School (FL)

Season over, Port Charlotte finished with a 2-10 record.

9. Lavar Highsmith, LB, Dunbar High School (MD)

Dunbar advanced to the Maryland 1A state championship game with a 42-6 win over Overlea Friday evening.
