Marshall Football: Verbal Commitment Watch, Week 12

The Marshall Thundering Blog looks back on last weeks high school football action and reviews the performance of every Marshall verbal commitment.

1. Tyler Combs, OL, Lawrence County High School (KY)

Lawrence County won their first round playoff game over Morgan County 21-14 Friday night. With the win Lawrence will travel to Belfry High School this week for a second round matchup. Earlier this season Belfry defeated the Bull Dogs 48-6.

2. Devon Johnson, LB/RB, Richlands High School (VA)

Richlands completed a perfect 10-0 regular season win a 69-18 win over Tazwell Friday night. Devon Johnson had eight rushing attempts for 123 yards and three touchdowns during the victory. Richlands will continue into the post season following a bye week when they return to action on Nov. 18 in the regional semifinals.

3. Trenton Norvell, QB, Seabreeze High School (FL)

Trenton Norvell had a tough Friday night as Seabreeze lost to Mainland 40-9. For the game Norvell completed just two of fifteen passes for 40 yards, was intercepted twice and fumbled the ball once. Seabreeze has an off week before traveling to Winter Haven for a first round playoff matchup.

4. Ryan Riedel, LB, Cabell Midland High School (WV)

Ryan Riedel recorded a forced fumble and fumble recovery during Cabell Midland’s 23-14 win over Hurricane Friday night. As a whole the Cabell Midland defense held Hurricane to 231 yards of total offense. Cabell Midland will host Wheeling Park in a first round playoff game this week.

5. Antonio Wells, DE, Magna Vista High School (VA)

With the aid of three defensive touchdowns Magna Vista defeated Bassett 27-14 Friday night. The win capped a perfect regular season for Magna Vista and secured a first round playoff bye.

6. Matt Cincotta, LS/LB, Charlotte Catholic High School (NC)

Long snapper Matt Cincotta found his target on every field goal and punt attempt during Charlotte Catholic’s 42-14 first round playoff win over Hickory. Charlotte Catholic travels to undefeated Marvin Ridge for a second round playoff game this Friday.

7. Cameron Dees, OL, Armwood High School (FL)

Armwood capped it’s perfect regular season with a 54-6 win over King High School Friday night. With the win Armwood secured an open week to prepare for the playoffs.

8. Zach Hall, OL, Port Charlotte High School (FL)

Despite scoring on their first play from scrimmage Port Charlotte fell to Charlotte 21-7 Friday night.
