In a disappointing effort Marshall University dropped Saturday's football game at the University of Tulsa 59-17. Marshall starting quarterback A.J Graham suffered an apparent shoulder injury in the second quarter and did not return. His replacement, freshman Rakeen Cato, completed 16 passes on 26 attempts for 163 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
One bright spot was Thundering Herd running back Travon Van, who recorded his first 100 yard rushing game in green and white. Van finished the day with 115 rushing yards on 17 attempts and one touchdown.
