Marshall Football: Former QB Derek Devine is a Champion

Yes you read the headline right, former Marshall University quarterback Derek Devine won a championship, in football too! After leaving Marshall in 2006 with only two completions for 21 yards the prospect of Devine playing professional football were slim and none. Defying the odds Devine participated in two NFL training camps with the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins.

Recently, Devine has served as a backup quarterback for the United Football Leagues Virginia Destroyers. Last Friday night Devine’s Destroyers defeated the Las Vegas Locomotives for the UFL championship. Much like his Marshall career Devine did not see the field for Virginia this season but hey, guy still won a championship.

You can see Devine’s UFL player page here.
