It looked like a blowout, Marshall (7-3, 5-1) came out on
fire at Tulsa (2-8, 1-5), scoring 21 unanswered first quarter points in what
appeared to be an insurmountable deficit. The Golden Hurricanes had other
ideas, taking advantage of five Thundering Herd turnovers to secure a 34-31 fourth
quarter lead. Needing points, Marshall quarterback Rakeem Cato engineered a 5
play, 39 yard drive capped by a touchdown pass to Tommy Shuler which put the
Herd up for good. Marshall added a late touchdown, bringing the final score to
45-34.
