Speaking with reporters today, Marshall men’s basketball
coach Tom Herrion announced that guard Justin Edmonds will be redshirted and forward
JP Kambola has an eligibility issue that needs to be resolved before he can
play.
A junior college transfer, Edmonds tore his ACL last
December and will require a few more months of rehabilitation before returning
to competition.
Herrion is optimistic that Kambola will be ruled eligible soon.
During his three seasons at Marshall the 6-foot-9 junior forward has appeared
in 20 games and scored ten points.
In other news, after scoring a career high 31 points against
South Carolina State last Friday, Marshall’s Elijah Pittman was named
Co-Conference USA Player of the Week. He splits this week’s honor with FIU
senior Rakeem Buckles who averaged 17.7 points and 12 rebounds through the
Panthers first three games at the Kennesaw State Tournament.
The Thundering Herd returns to action at the Cam Henderson Center tomorrow against Rio Grande, tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
