Wednesday was a busy night for C-USA men’s basketball as all 12 member teams were in action. Marshall (17-9,5-6) took care of business against a scrappy Rice (11-14,3-8) squad but their was one upset.
Southern Mississippi (19-6,8-4) was down 13 points 4 minutes into the second half before the Golden Eagles finished on a 36 -10 run to defeat UTEP (19-6,7-3) 64 – 51 at home.
Memphis (20-6,8-3) continued its winning ways over UAB with a 62 – 58 (18-7,8-4) home win. The victory was Memphis’s 20th of the season and they also moved on top of the C-USA standings.
SMU (16-9, 7-4) defended its home court with a 65 – 51 win over Houston. The ponies will be visiting Marshall next Saturday February 26th.
UCF (16-8,3-8) was down 11 points at home in the second half to lowly Tulane (12-13,2-10) before coming back for a 65 – 62 victory. Marshall travels to take on the Green Wave this Saturday in New Orleans.
Still reeling from their home loss to Marshall last Saturday ECU (13-`12, 5-6) visited Tulsa (14-11,7-4) and lost 86 – 67. Tulsa travels to Marshall next Wednesday.
