First reported by the Twitter account of Huntington Herald Dispatch columnist Chuck Landon, Marshall University cornerbacks coach Lytrel Pollard has resigned and will join the coaching staff at Southern Miss. A former Golden Eagles football player, Pollard spent nine years as a assistant at Southern Miss in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.
Landon is also reporting that new defensive coordinator Chuck Heater has taken over Pollard’s responsibilities at cornerback while longtime West Virginia assistant and former Marshall defensive coordinator Steve Dunlap will be hired to coach the Thundering Herd’s linebackers.
On offense, Landon wrote that offensive coordinator Bill Legg will shift his position coach responsibilities from tight ends to quarterbacks.
If these moves come to fruition, Marshall will have one offensive assistant position left to be filled.
