Marshall Football: Cato MVP & Grooms Freshman of the Year

The awards keep on rolling in for Marshall University’s football team. Earlier today Conference USA named quarterback Rakeem Cato league MVP and running back Kevin Grooms freshman of the year.

The first underclassman to be awarded the MVP trophy, Cato lead C-USA in passing yards (4,201), completions (406), and touchdowns (37). 

Grooms paced all C-USA freshman and Marshall’s backfield with 737 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. The last Thundering Herd rookie to win a conferences freshman of the year award was Randy Moss in 1996.
