There’s a chance it will all mean nothing. But for the moment, the Giants have decided to try to add some measure of security to a possible free-agent mess later on by tendering several players who may or may not become restricted free agents.
The Giants have given second-round tenders to almost all of their key possible restricted free agents: RB Ahmad Bradshaw, DT Barry Cofield, TE Kevin Boss and DE Dave Tollefson. A second-round tender means a 2011 salary of $1.96 million, a figure that could change depending on the new CBA. It also means if a team signs one of these players they must forfeit a second-round draft pick.......
