Last week it was revealed that Baltimore City College guard Mike Cheatham verbally committed to Marshall. In two separate reports it appears that Cheatham’s arrival in Huntington might be delayed.
In his online chat Charleston Daily Mail reporter Chuck McGill indicated that Cheatham might attend a junior college before enrolling at Marshall:
Q: New B-Ball commit? (Mike Cheatham) How do we have space?
McGill: JUCO
Q: so, Cheatham will go juco next year, then come to MU the following year? will that leave him 3?, or will he have to do two years at juco. if so, we still looking for PG to replace pitts?
McGill: Not sure what will happen to Cheatham once he goes JUCO ... he's not bound to Marshall or anything. Boykins can handle the point ... and Herrion will definitely bring in a PG in 2012.
In another report Baltimore Sun recruiting reporter Matt Bracken floated the idea of Cheatham attending a prep school:
Cheatham may do a year of prep school before matriculating to Huntingtown, but that won’t be determined for another few months.
