Since then, Marshall Athletic Director Mike Hamrick says he's talked to between 20 and 30 potential replacements for Jones. He was preparing to travel to Indianapolis on Wednesday to interview between seven and ten candidates.
After that, those numbers will be narrowed to between two and three finalists.
"We have a list and we have a very good list of head coaches, top assistant coaches that have shown interest in this job," Hamrick said on Wednesday's MetroNews Talkline.
Hamrick says his goal is to make a hire within the next week. "There's very few good Division I head basketball coaching jobs and this is a good job in a good conference."
