Former Marshall defensive back Chris Royal has been assigned to the Iowa Barnstormers (AFL). Iowa is part of the new 16 team Arena Football League. Royal has previous experience in indoor football, playing for the Huntington Heroes (AIFA) , Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers (AF2), and Lexington Horseman (AF2). Royal was named the AF2 rookie of the year in 2007 with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording 14 interceptions that season.
