Basketball & Football Coach Received Extensions

First confirmed by Chuck Landon of the Huntington Herald Dispatch, Marshall’s football and men’s basketball coach received contract extensions within the last 15 months.

Doc Holliday was awarded an extension after defeating FIU in the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl on Dec. 21, 2001 and leading the Herd to a 7-6 season. In three years as Marshall’s football coach, Holliday has accumulated a record of 17-20. Holliday has three years left on his contact.

Athletic Director Mike Hamrick handed a contract extension to basketball coach Tom Herrion after last season’s NIT loss to Middle Tennessee State. The NIT appearance was the Thundering Herd’s first since 1988. In almost three years at the helm of Marshall’s basketball program Herrion has a overall record of 55-42. Like Holliday, Herrion has three years remaining on his contract.
