Marshall Basketball: Herd snaps two game losing streak, beats UTEP 76-60

Marshall snapped a two game losing streak Wednesday night, defeating UTEP 76-60 at home during both schools Conference USA opener.

The Herd was lead by junior forward Dennis Tinnon, who scored 15 points and grabbed ten rebounds for his seventh double-double in 14 games. Marshall also received double digit point efforts from Shaquille Johnson (12), DeAndre Kane (10), and Nigel Spikes (10)

Down 22-13 midway through he first quarter Marshall freshman Jamir Hanner provided a spark, scoring six points and grabbing one offensive rebound to put MU up 28-26 at the four minute mark. Hanner had his most impressive game in a Marshall uniform, scoring eight points and grabbing six rebounds.

Marshall used 16 offensive rebounds to hold a 42-23 advantage over UTEP on the boards. The Herd bench also dominated the Miners, scoring 29 points to the visitors nine.

Marshall (10-4,1-0) returns to action Saturday night at Rice (9-4, 0-0). Tip off is scheduled for 8pm ET.
