West Virginia University used a dominate second half to defeat Marshall 78-62 in Wednesday nights Capital Classic basketball game. After exiting half time tied at 30 WVU pulled away, out scoring MU 48-32 in the second frame. Marshall was also out rebounded 37-27, the first time that has occurred all season.
Typically a solid defensive team the Herd allowed WVU to shoot over fifty percent from the floor. The Mountaineers were lead by do it all forward Kevin Jones, who scored 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Darryl Bryant also had an impressive game for WVU, contributing seven rebounds of his own and 22 points.
Only two Marshall players were able to reach double digit points with DeAndre Kane's 19 and Damier Pitts 15. Dennis Tinnon fell just below his season average of 10.9 rebounds, pulling down ten arrant shots, three on offense and seven on defense.
Marshall (13-5, 4-0) returns to action this Saturday at Southern Mississippi (16-3, 3-1), tip off is scheduled for 6pm ET.
