Despite out scoring Syracuse 38-31 in the second half Marshall could not over come a 31-18 half time deficit as the Orange defeated MU 62-56 in the Carrier Dome Tuesday night.
Junior Forward Dennis Tinnon lead the Herd with 17 points and 15 rebounds, registering a double-double. Point guard Damier Pitts was the only other Marshall player to reach double figures, scoring ten points. Defending Conference USA rookie of the year DeAndre Kane had a solid night, recording nine points while distributing five assist and grabbing seven rebounds .
Both teams had trouble scoring as Syracuse held Marshall to a .319 field goal percentage. The Orange did not fair much better against MU's defense, only converting 22-62 field goal attempts. Marshall continued it's seven game streak of out rebounding opponents as the Herd recorded 31 rebounds to Syracuse's 25.
