According to multiple outlets, Marshall’s basketball program has received
a verbal commitment from Kirkwood Community College (Iowa) center Henry Uwadiae.
A native of Nigeria, Uwadiae came to America at age 16 for his first
taste of organized basketball. He spent a year at Findlay Prep in Las Vegas
with additional stops at United Faith Christian Academy and Evelyn Mack Academy
in Charlotte North Carolina.
Uwadiae gave a verbal commitment to Wichita State
in July of 2011 but, he was ruled academically ineligible and
never enrolled at the Missouri Valley Conference school.
Standing 6-foot-10, 210 pounds, Uwadiae attended Kirkwood Community
College last year but, academics prevented him from suiting up for the
basketball team. All signs point towards Uwadiae playing for
Kirkwood this season and once enrolled at Marshall, he will have three years of
eligibility remaining.
Uwadiae is regarded as a project on the hardwood. He grew up playing volleyball and did not concentrate on basketball until age 14.
