Marshall Soccer: Herd Opens "The Vet" with Win

Playing their first game in Marshall's new, $8 million soccer complex, the Thundering Herd women defeated Campbell University 3-0.

Sophomore Erin Simmons recorded the opening goal 1 minute and 35 seconds into the game, beating Campbell's goalkeeper off a cross from senior Casey Walsh.

In a pregame ceremony, the playing surface at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex was christened Hoops Family Field, in honor of Revelation Energy CEO Jeff Hoops. Hoops made a sizable donation to Marshall's Vision Campaign, including the soccer complex.

Also before the game, Marshall's equipment staff surprised the team with new jerseys, they look pretty sweet.
