Marshall Football: Smith & Riedel dealing with possible career ending injuries

Missed this item as it was buried in Chuck Landon’s Tuesday column for the Herald Dispatch.

It looks like two newcomers to Marshall’s football team, defensive tackle Ken Smith and linebacker Ryan Riedel are dealing with potential career ending injuries.

A junior college transfer, Smith has not participated in any of the Herd’s August practices. According to Landon Smith’s injury appears to be back related.

Riedel was Marshall’s lone West Virginia native in the 2012 recruiting class, hailing from nearby Cabell Midland High School.  He has not been assigned a jersey number and hasn’t participated in a single practice. Riedel’s injury also appears to be back related.
