Marshall Football: Practice report day 9

You might expect a football team to hit a wall after a week and a half of training camp. According to multiple reports that is not the case at Joan C Edwards Stadium.

Derek Redd of the MU Sports Blog writes that the intensity level was high during today's practice sessions. With multiple position battles ragging deep into camp many members of the Thundering Herd have a lot to prove. Redd also looked at the 33 Florida natives dotting Marshall's roster. Besides the 68 Floridians representing UCF Marshall host more players from the sunshine state than any other Conference USA team.

One of the big questions entering training camp was the maturity of starting quarterback Rakeem Cato. According to Doug Smock of the Charleston Gazette Cato has turned a corner this August, quickly moving on from bad plays and re-focusing on the task at hand. Smock also took a look at center Chris Jasperse. Despite only having 13 career starts Jasperse is one of the most veteran players along the offensive line.

Marshall returns to the gridiron tomorrow for a single practice session at 2:30pm.
