Is Brad Lambert a Marshall Target?

Two Marshall beat writers, Doug Smock of the Charleston Daily Mail and Chuck Landon of the Herald Dispatch are reporting that Wake Forest defensive coordinator Brad Lambert has emerged as a candidate for MU’s head coaching vacancy. Lambert was a defensive assistant at Marshall during the Jim Donnan era. He followed Donnan to Georgia but eventually landed on Jim Grobe’s staff at Wake Forest. The past two seasons Lambert has been the Deacons defensive coordinator. During 2008 Lambert lead Wake to a top twenty defensive rating and coached star linebacker Aaron Curry to the Butkus award.

Landon is reporting that Lambert plans to bring a group of former Donnan and Bob Pruett staff members back to Marshall. He is also states that Lambert is getting strong endorsements from Grobe and Mike Hamrick confidant Ron Wellman, the Wake Forest athletic director.
