Chad vs. Byron

With two of Marshall’s most prominent NFL alumni squaring off tonight I decided to pull together different articles about the Dolphins and Buccaneers quarterbacks.

In Tampa Byron Leftwich is fighting with fellow veteran Luke McCown and rookie Josh Freeman for the starting role. Byron started the Bucs last pre-season game and will get the starting nod against Miami. Rumors have been swirling that either McCown or Lefwich will be trade if they do not win the starting quarterback role. In Tampa’s first two pre-season games Lefwich has thrown 26 passes, completing 12 of them for 124 yards and one touchdown to no interceptions. At the same time McCown has thrown for 70 yards on 17 attempts and 10 completions, tossing 2 touchdowns to no interceptions.

Things are much more clear cut in Miami where Chad Pennington is the unquestioned starter and leader of the Dolphins. After winning the comeback player of the year award in 2008 Pennington again looks to lead Miami into the playoffs. For the pre-season Pennington has thrown one touchdown to no interceptions on 18 attempts and 12 completions for 143 yards.
