Vote on Soccer Stadium / IPF Bonds Expected Thursday

Marshall’s board of governess will meet this Thursday to consider issuing $50 million in bonds for a new parking garage, soccer stadium complex, applied engineering complex, renovations to the former Stone & Thomas building for a fine arts incubator and an indoor athletic complex.

A vote on a new bond proposal of up to $50 million. The funds would be used for a new parking garage, soccer stadium complex, the applied engineering complex, renovations to the former Stone & Thomas building for a fine arts incubator and an indoor athletic complex.

The soccer stadium complex would be built at the current site of the Veterans Memorial Field House on 5th Avenue. The Greater Huntington Parks and Recreation District meets at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at A Room With a View at the Ritter Park Rose Garden. Park Board members are expected to hear a proposal from Marshall officials and vote on the matter. Marshall would spend approximately $5.4 million through the bond issue to demolish the Field House and build a 1,500-seat soccer stadium complex.
