Former Marshall basketball player and NBA rookie Hassan Whiteside has been assigned to the NBA Development League Reno Bighorns. Whiteside, a second round pick of the Sacramento Kings, had played in only one game this season before the assignment.
Kings head coach had this to say about Whiteside:
He’s disappointed, but we explained to him that it’s not a demotion, it’s because we think so highly of him. We want him to have a chance to play. I think it’s a really good opportunity for him. That’s what the D-league is for. We are very high on Hassan’s potential but he needs experience. That’s what we said when we drafted him and that’s where he is right now.
