Marshall received a number of honors today when Conference
USA announced its individual football awards.
Thundering Herd quarterback Rakeem Cato was named C-USA Offensive
Player of the Year. Cato leads the conference with 36 touchdown passes and
ranks second in passing yards with 3,579.
Marshall’s Corey Tindal and Tulane linebacker Nico Marley
shared C-USA's Freshman of the Year honors. One of the Herds top cornerbacks,
Tindal recorded 55 tackles, five tackles for loss, six pass breakups and two
fumble recoveries during his rookie season. Tindal is the second straight
Marshall football player to be named Freshman of the Year, running back Kevin
Grooms received the award in 2012.
