Last week Marshall had three players participating in the Arena Football League playoffs, by Saturday night that number hit zero. Bernard Morris (Jacksonville Sharks), Chris Royal (Tulsa Talons) and Jamus Martin (Chicago Rush) were all eliminated in week one of the AFL playoffs.
Morris’s Sharks suffered the most agonizing defeat as the Orlando Predators scored a game winning touchdown with 8.7 seconds reaming. Overall Morris had a very productive AFL season. As a back up quarterback to Arena legend Aaron Garcia, Morris was able to pass for 567 yards on 83 attempts with 8 touchdowns and no interceptions. Morris played a slash role for Jacksonville, he also caught eight passes for 132 yards including 2 touchdowns, rushed for 97 yards with 6 TD’s, and registered 6 tackles on defense. With the AFL expanding in 2011 you might see Morris leading a new team at quarterback next year.
Chris Royal also had a very productive Arena League season. Royal finished second in the league with 11 interceptions and registered 69 tackles. Royal’s Tulsa Talons were eliminated from the playoffs by Tampa Bay 68 – 38 on Saturday.
In four games with the Chicago Rush Martin recorded seven tackles and a forced fumble. Chicago lost to Milwaukee 64 – 54 on Saturday.
