Marshall Football: Looks like Powell is Florida bound
Per an article written by ESPN.com's Michael DiRocco, four star linebacker prospect Jeremi Powell will sign a letter of intent with Florida tomorrow. Powell's verbal commitment to UF was cast in doubt last weekend when he took an official visit to Marshall although, it looks like Gator fans have nothing to worry about.
Marshall Football: Signing Day Primer
The time has almost arrived, national signing day is less than 24 hours away. Nearing the goal line Marshall’s recruiting class boast 19 members including four players already enrolled in Huntington.
That does not mean tomorrow will be without drama. Marshall fans should be tuned into two prospects, A.J Leggett and Jeremi Powell. Leggett has already given a verbal pledge to MU but, the four star defensive back took an official visit to Tennessee last week, casting his commitment in doubt. One of the nations top 20 recruits at linebacker according to Rivals, Powell was in Huntington this weekend checking out Marshall’s campus. Powell will be making a decision between the Herd and Florida, possibly as early as today. If one or both of those players commit to Marshall it could dramatically alter the perception of this years recruiting class.
Also, do not forget the always popular secret commitment. Marshall head coach Doc Holliday has provided a signing day surprise each of the past two years and 2012 should not be any different. 2011’s unexpected commitment was junior college defensive end Terry Franklin who never stepped foot on campus. Holliday’s surprise for the class of 2010 was current tight end Harold “Gator” Hoskins.
Surprises or not tomorrow should be an exciting day for Marshall football fans. Marshall Football: Chris Hall recruited at QB?
It looks like Marshall recruit Chris Hall will get a chance to play quarterback in college. Chuck Landon and Doug Smock reported today that the Fork Union Military Academy tight end would be given the opportunity to compete at QB in Huntington.
As a high school senior Hall passed for 2,068 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while completing 53% of his passes. A dual threat Hall also rushed for 1,056 yards and 21 TDs on 188 carries.

Marshall Football: Update on Zach Hall
Per the Sarasota Herald Tribune, Port Charlotte High School (FL) offensive lineman Zach Hall will not sign a letter of intent with Marshall this Wednesday. According to the article a “paperwork snafu” has caused Hall to look for another University.
Hall is a classmate of Marcus Gilchrist who switched his commitment from FIU to Marshall last week.

Marshall Football: Recruiting notes
A few notes on Marshall’s 2012 recruiting class with national signing day approaching this Wednesday.
1) Four star linebacker Jeremi Powell left his official visit to Marshall this weekend without committing, he is still listed as a soft verbal to Florida.
2) A.J Leggett took an official visit to Tennessee this weekend, putting his commitment to Marshall on shaky footing. It looks like Leggett’s college destination will remain a mystery until Wednesday.
3) Wide receiver Keithon Redding visited Southern Miss this weekend and gave them a verbal commitment. Redding took an official visit to Marshall two weeks ago.
4) Another wide receiver Marshall had extended a scholarship offer to, Jaime Wilson, chose to attend Western Michigan over the weekend.
5) Marshall also lost out on Glendale Community College offensive lineman Patrick Ward when he gave a verbal pledge to Utah State last Saturday.
6) Here is a list of players who have taken a official visit to Marshall that remain uncommitted: kicker Ricardo Perez, wide receiver Rayshawn Jackson, and offensive lineman John Buchanan.
